Our approach integrates psychiatric services with out-of-home care, emphasizing stabilization, behavioral correction, and community reintegration when clients are ready. Job Summary We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Intake and Utilization Review (UR) Management Coordinator to oversee the intake process and manage utilization review activities. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical documentation skills, extensive knowledge of managed care protocols, and experience working within hospital or healthcare environments. This role is vital in ensuring accurate patient assessments, efficient resource utilization, and compliance with healthcare standards to support optimal patient care outcomes. Duties Coordinate the intake process by collecting comprehensive patient information, verifying insurance details, and ensuring all documentation complies with organizational policies. Manage utilization review activities by evaluating medical necessity, reviewing clinical documentation, and ensuring appropriate level of care determinations. Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth to document assessments and communicate with multidisciplinary teams. Collaborate with healthcare providers to facilitate discharge planning, case management, and coordination of services across inpatient, outpatient, and home care settings. Ensure adherence to HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of all medical records and patient information. Conduct thorough reviews of medical documentation including CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9/ICD coding, DRGs (Diagnosis-Related Groups), and clinical notes to support accurate billing and compliance. Support clinical documentation improvement initiatives by identifying gaps in records related to physiology knowledge, anatomy, nursing documentation, and medical terminology. Requirements A Bachelor's degree in mental health or related field from an accredited college or university, or 5 plus years' experience in mental health services (masters degree in behavioral health preferred). A minimum of five years' progressively responsible experience in residential treatment setting.
