Job Description

Job Summary Join our dynamic veterinary team as a Kennel Technician, where your passion for animal care and attention to detail will make a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their families. In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for animals in our care, supporting veterinary staff with essential husbandry tasks, and ensuring each pet receives compassionate treatment. Your dedication will help uphold the highest standards of animal welfare while contributing to a positive and efficient clinic atmosphere. Responsibilities Provide exceptional animal husbandry by cleaning kennels, cages, and common areas to ensure a hygienic environment. Assist with animal restraint during examinations, treatments, and procedures to ensure safety for both pets and staff. Administer medications and treatments as directed by veterinarians, following proper aseptic techniques. Support veterinary technicians and veterinarians with laboratory sample collection, basic diagnostics, and specimen handling. Handle animals with care during intake, discharge, or transfer, demonstrating proficiency in dog handling and understanding of animal physiology. Maintain detailed records of medication administration, treatments, and animal behavior observations in compliance with clinic protocols. Support front desk duties such as scheduling appointments or managing patient flow when needed to ensure smooth clinic operations. Qualifications Previous kennel experience or animal care background is highly preferred. Knowledge of animal husbandry practices and pet care essentials. Experience working in veterinary clinics or with veterinary technicians is advantageous. Familiarity with veterinary terminology, laboratory procedures, and aseptic techniques. Ability to handle animals safely using restraint techniques suitable for different species including dogs and cats; equine experience is a plus. Strong understanding of animal anatomy, physiology, and basic medical procedures such as catheterization or medication administration. Excellent animal handling skills combined with a compassionate attitude toward pets and their owners. Prior veterinary assistant or clinic experience is desirable to excel in this role. $9.00 - $15.00 per hour
