Job Summary:

The Kitchen Utility Worker supports the kitchen operations at Schuyler Inn Family Shelter by ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient working environment. This role is essential in helping the kitchen staff provide nutritious meals to families and individuals in need. The Kitchen Utility Worker will perform various tasks, including cleaning, dishwashing, food prep assistance, and maintaining kitchen supplies.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils, ensuring all items are clean and sanitized. Clean and sanitize kitchen surfaces, equipment, and storage areas. Assist with basic food preparation tasks, such as peeling, chopping, and portioning ingredients. Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, including sweeping, mopping, and trash removal. Monitor and replenish kitchen supplies, such as paper products, cleaning agents, and food items. Follow proper food safety and hygiene practices at all times. Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries, ensuring proper inventory rotation. Support the kitchen team with meal service setup and breakdown. Perform routine maintenance and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor. Collaborate with kitchen staff and other shelter team members to ensure smooth operations. Adhere to all non-profit and shelter policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience in a kitchen or food service environment preferred. Knowledge of basic kitchen equipment and sanitation standards. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks. Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness. Good communication and teamwork skills. Ability to lift and carry heavy items.

Working Conditions:

Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed. The position requires standing for long periods and performing physically demanding tasks. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, as well as kitchen noise and odors.

From $17.00 per hour
