Lab Tech/Chemical Handler

  • Full-time Bass Environmental is seeking a Lab Technician/Chemical Handler specializing in wastewater and waste analysis!
In this vital role, you will conduct precise laboratory testing, collect and analyze data, and support wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with environmental laws and safety standards. The candidate will safely manage, transfer, treat, and package chemicals and waste streams while maintaining strict compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety standard Responsibilities Collect water, wastewater, and waste samples following established protocols to ensure sample integrity. Perform laboratory analyses using advanced techniques and equipment to measure chemical, biological, and physical parameters relevant to wastewater treatment and waste management. Prepare detailed technical reports and documentation, including research findings, analysis results, and compliance reports, adhering to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) standards. Maintain laboratory equipment, calibrate instruments regularly, and ensure adherence to safety protocols outlined by OSHA and EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) regulations. Support water treatment operations by analyzing process data, troubleshooting issues related to wastewater treatment systems, and recommending improvements based on data insights. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on environmental law compliance, EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) initiatives, and public health protection efforts. Perform all job duties in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and
HAZWOPER
(29 CFR 1910.120) requirements Properly don required PPE, including respirators, chemical suits, gloves, and eye/face protection Perform chemical batch processing, including measuring, mixing, and transferring chemicals according to approved procedures Follow site-specific Health & Safety Plans (HASP), standard operating procedures, and job hazard analyses (JHAs) Participate in daily safety meetings and report unsafe conditions immediately Assist with spill response, decontamination activities, and emergency procedures as trained Experience 1+ year(s) of laboratory experience working with water quality testing, wastewater analysis, or environmental sampling
  • not in a sterile lab environment.
Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Environmental Science preferred Strong data analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets related to water treatment or waste management processes. Has 40-hour hazwopper certification or ability to obtain Must be over 21 years of age Mechanical knowledge of laboratory instruments and wastewater treatment equipment is highly desirable. Experience in wastewater treatment plants, hazardous waste facilities, industrial manufacturing, or field environmental services Experience handling bulk chemicals, tote systems, or drum operations This role offers a chance to grow your expertise in water treatment technology while working in a collaborative environment committed to sustainability and safety.
