Job Description

Works business licenses, manufactured home decals, and nuisance complaints reported throughout the County. Verifies that valid business licenses have been obtained, using field inspections and computer searches. Notifies delinquent businesses to make proper licenses payment. Performs inspections on transient businesses to verify proper license has been secured. Conducts manufactured home inspections to assure compliance with Ad Valorem and registration laws. Follows-up to ensure compliance with notices and initiates legal action for non-compliance when necessary. Responds to complaints regarding illegal dumping and nuisance by investigating the complaint, identifying landowners, and provides an opportunity for them to clean it up. Checks with the Probate Judge's Office daily for updates and any issues with businesses that are not in compliance with State and County Business License laws. Responds to questions and concerns from other departments, elected officials, and the general public per the policies and procedures. Coordinates with the County Engineer and Commission Chairperson involving the ADEM "Scrap Tire Programs for Russell County & this includes inside Phenix City. Participates in educational programs, clinics, and other community service events. Knowledge and experience of record keeping and accountability with public funds. Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft software, emails, and other business or software systems. Strong ability to provide oral and written communications. Maintains citation files and records. Answers and returns calls and checks emails. Prepares required reports in accordance with State and County requirements. Follows through with legal action as prescribed by the Code of Alabama title 40 revenue laws. Requires regular and prompt attendance, plus the ability to work well with others and work well as a team. Performs any other related duties as assigned.
