Job Description

City of Woodson Terrace Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer Starting Pay:
$15.99 per hour
Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 5-6 hours per day (Maximum 29 hours per week)
Benefits:
None (Part-Time Position) Position Overview The City of Woodson Terrace is accepting applications for a Part-Time Code Enforcement Officer to join the Public Works Department. This position is responsible for assisting with the enforcement of City ordinances relating to property maintenance, nuisance violations, zoning compliance, and other municipal codes. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, remain professional during difficult situations, and represent the City with integrity and respect. No previous code enforcement experience is required. The City is willing to train the right individual. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct routine inspections throughout the City to identify ordinance violations. Investigate complaints regarding property maintenance, weeds, trash, junk vehicles, nuisance violations, and other code-related issues. Document violations through written reports and photographs. Issue notices of violation and communicate compliance requirements to property owners and residents. Maintain accurate records using the City's code enforcement software. Follow up on outstanding violations to ensure compliance. Coordinate with Public Works, Police Department, Fire Department, contractors, and other agencies when necessary. Attend court proceedings or administrative hearings as required. Operate a City-issued vehicle while performing assigned duties. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director of Public Works. Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Valid Missouri driver's license with an acceptable driving record. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to work independently while maintaining communication with supervisors. Comfortable interacting with the public and resolving conflicts in a calm, professional manner. Ability to exercise sound judgment and remain impartial when enforcing City ordinances. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications. Prior code enforcement, municipal government, law enforcement, customer service, or inspection experience is preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, stand, bend, and climb stairs during inspections. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 30 pounds occasionally. Employment Requirements Applicants must successfully complete: Criminal background investigation Pre-employment drug screening Random drug testing throughout employment Verification of employment eligibility Working Relationships This position reports directly to the Director of Public Works and works closely with other City departments while maintaining positive relationships with residents, business owners, and contractors.
