POSITION SUMMARY AND MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
The Offsite Adoption Coordinator oversees and expands offsite adoption programs and events for all animals across the county, with a strong focus on planning and executing successful adoption events. They serve as a liaison between the shelter and partner locations, ensuring animals are prepared and events run smoothly. The coordinator engages with adopters, maintains records, and collaborates with staff, volunteers, and community partners to drive adoption success and grow offsite opportunities. The ideal candidate is compassionate, organized, and motivated, with strong communication skills and a passion for animal welfare and customer service. They are detail-oriented, adaptable, comfortable multitasking, and able to build relationships with staff, volunteers, and the public. Basic computer skills and experience with records or point-of-sale systems are preferred; animal sheltering, customer service, or event experience is a plus. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate the safe transport and placement of all types of animals to offsite adoption locations, including PetSmart, Petco, and other community partners. Build and maintain strong working relationships with store managers and identify new opportunities for offsite adoption locations. Plan and coordinate offsite adoption events, including responding to inquiries, organizing logistics, and collaborating with internal departments for community engagement and donor development. Set up, execute, and manage adoption events, including processing adoptions onsite. Coordinate staff, volunteers, and animals for SPCA offsite events in partnership with the Community Fundraising Coordinator and Volunteer Services Manager. Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of animals available for adoption, ensuring all documentation is complete and organized. Collaborate with admissions, adoptions, veterinary, and animal care teams to ensure animals are fully prepared and equipped prior to placement. Serves as an adoption counselor for both on-site and at offsite events, engaging adopters to ensure a consistent and positive experience. Guides prospective adopters through the adoption process, including counseling, animal selection, and completion of applications, while maintaining familiarity with shelter animals and identifying candidates for offsite placement. Process adoption transactions, including fees and mobile checkout, and prepare adoption materials and resources for each animal. Supervise and support volunteers at offsite locations, providing regular updates on animal inventory and expectations. Monitor and manage supply and equipment inventory at offsite locations, ensuring proper stock levels and distribution. Ensure all animals are handled appropriately and housed according to species-specific needs and welfare standards. Perform all duties with strong attention to detail while effectively managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lift items weighing 30 lbs or more and perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, and setting up event equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation.
