Description Lawrenceville Borough, Tioga County, Pennsylvania is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Code Enforcement/Zoning Officer. This position is responsible for administering and enforcing Borough zoning ordinances, property maintenance standards, permit requirements, and related municipal regulations in a fair, consistent, and professional manner. Position Responsibilities
Review zoning and permit applications for compliance with applicable Borough ordinances.
Conduct inspections and investigate complaints related to zoning, property maintenance, nuisances, signs, fences, accessory structures, demolition, excavation, and other regulated activities.
Issue notices of violation, maintain accurate records, and follow up to ensure corrective action is completed.
Work with residents, property owners, contractors, Borough officials, and outside agencies to explain requirements and resolve compliance matters.
Prepare reports, correspondence, and documentation for Borough Council, hearings, or enforcement proceedings as needed.
Coordinate with building inspection services and other municipal or county officials when projects involve additional permitting or code requirements.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional training in zoning, planning, municipal government, construction, code enforcement, or a related field is preferred.
Knowledge of local government procedures, zoning administration, property maintenance, and basic construction practices is helpful.
Ability to read and interpret ordinances, site plans, permit applications, maps, and related documents.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with the public.
Ability to maintain organized records and prepare clear written notices and reports.
Valid driver's license and the ability to travel within the Borough as needed.
Familiarity with Pennsylvania municipal regulations, zoning procedures, and enforcement practices.
Schedule and Compensation This is a part-time municipal position. Specific hours, rate of pay, and appointment terms will be determined by Lawrenceville Borough Council based on Borough needs and the qualifications of the selected applicant.
