Description Lawrenceville Borough is seeking a dependable Water and Wastewater Treatment Technician with strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently. This position supports the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of the Borough's water and wastewater systems. Responsibilities
Operate and monitor water treatment and wastewater systems to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and safety standards.
Perform routine inspections, maintenance, repairs, and adjustments on treatment equipment, including pumps, valves, filters, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
Collect and record water quality data, including pH, turbidity, chemical levels, and flow rates, for analysis and reporting.
Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, system performance, and environmental compliance documentation.
Collaborate with Borough Council, the licensed water/sewer operator, the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), outside agencies, and contractors.
Operate heavy equipment and perform plumbing-related tasks, including pipe replacements and water meter repairs or replacements.
Conduct hydrant flushing, maintenance, and repairs.
Follow all safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Perform cleaning and general upkeep to maintain a safe, organized, and functional work environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or GED required.
Strong communication and organizational skills.
Willingness to learn and participate in training.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
Basic math skills for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Knowledge of pump maintenance, repair, and operation is essential.
Strong understanding of safety regulations.
Prior experience working in water and wastewater treatment facilities is preferred.
Hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with occasional overtime and/or emergency call-ins. Rate of Pay Compensation is based on experience, education, and qualifications. The Borough Council will discuss and set the rate of pay with potential candidates. Benefits Full-time employees are eligible for the following benefits: Paid holidays, as set and observed by Borough Council.
