Job Description

This title represents part-time positions, utilized on an as-needed basis, involved in the routine aspects of administering Civil Service examinations. These functions are routinely performed on Saturdays and weekday evenings, as the exam schedule demands. Examination Proctors may work with one or more other Examination Proctors depending on the size of the exam site or the number of exam candidates. Direct supervision is received from the Examination Supervisor or technical staff. Related work is performed as required.
CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED AT TIME OF APPLICATION
Counts and organizes exam materials according to a prescribed format, to ensure exam security and in preparation for follow-up work with materials; Arranges exam site pre- and post-exam and carries exam materials to and from sites as needed; Escorts candidates to and from the examination room; Confirms candidate's identification; Completes necessary paperwork for exams Presents instructions to candidates, reading aloud from printed material; Explains exam process and responds to questions from candidates regarding the examination process; Monitors exam participants to insure against breaches in exam security, and reports questionable or suspicious behavior; Participates in training on topics related to exam administration; May conduct post-examination candidate reviews of examination performance; May provide assistance to technical staff with such activities as scoring examinations, compiling data, preparing materials, and record keeping. High School Diploma or Equivalent
