  • $68,590 Role Summary Rutherford County Government is hiring a grant-funded Medicolegal Death Investigator (MDI) to support Government death investigations in alignment with Tennessee Code Annotated §38-7-108.
This role helps establish identity, cause, and manner of death while ensuring facts and evidence are accurately preserved.
Key responsibilities:
Respond to and conduct medicolegal investigations; gather scene and record information Coordinate with EMS, law enforcement, the Medical Examiner, partner agencies, and next of kin Collect, document, and safeguard evidence using accepted Forensics standards and chain-of-custody Produce clear reports, maintain case files in a case management system, and use Microsoft Office. This position will be integral to the performance of activities of a 3-year grant-funded project Required qualifications/skills: Bachelor's in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, Biology, Chemistry, Psychology, or related field AEMT/Paramedic (EMT-P), RN/PA, or ABMDI certification (or eligible within one year) Strong written/verbal communication; valid driver's license Apply to do Medical Legal investigative work that serves the community.
