KCPC performs competency evaluations in Kentucky and we are the only forensic hospital in the state serving all 120 counties. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Coordinate a Unit or Program promoting teamwork, communication, consistency and motivation to team members. Provide a safe, therapeutic and custodial environment. Coordinate unit team meetings and schedules daily activities and functions. Establish program goals and assess effectiveness of methods for attaining them. Implement behavior management plan and ensure officer participation and documentation. Inventory and order program supplies. Oversee performance of officers on unit. Role model appropriate interaction with patients and provide training for new officers. Provide information to supervisors and for patient's medical records. Verbally and physically intervene in volatile situations as needed. Provide reports of incidents for supervisors. Communicate personnel related concerns to Lieutenants. Monitor and perform all security related functions of the living unit. Oversee all aspects of patients daily living and closely monitor and utilize all modes of communication. Perform any and all special duties as assigned by the supervisors ensuring compliance with facility and departmental procedures and regulations.

EDUCATION

High school graduate.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS

Must have one year of experience in corrections, law enforcement, criminal justice, social work dealing with the rehabilitation of offenders, or in the supervision and care of young adults (ages 12-21) in a residential, correctional, group home, detention or day treatment program or any combination of the above. An Associate's degree from a college or university in corrections, criminal justice, law enforcement or a related field will substitute for six months of the required experience. A bachelor's degree from a college or university in corrections, criminal justice, law enforcement or a related major field will substitute for the year of required experience. For the Department of Juvenile Justice, successful completion of the Department of Juvenile Justice Training Academy or equivalent training program approved by the Commissioner of the Department of Juvenile Justice will substitute for one year of the required experience.
