Job Description

Rappahannock Juvenile Center is currently accepting applications for the position of Corrections Shift Commander for the night shift . This is a working supervisor role that provides first line supervision to operations staff within the secure areas of the facility. This leader coordinates and supervises specific procedures, programs and activities to ensure a safe and secure environment. Responsibilities include providing direct supervision to staff, work schedules, and assignments; conducts ongoing inspections to ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and administrative directives; provides crisis management; determines any special needs and behavior controls for the residents.
The following qualifications are required:
A High School diploma or equivalent Strong leadership skills At least one year of experience in a corrections environment or working with delinquent or maladjusted youth At least six months of supervisory experience A sound knowledge of criminal and anti-social human behavior as it relates to juvenile offenders. Sound decision making and crisis management skills Demonstrated ability to organize, plan, schedule, and supervise the work of others Excellent communication skills in English to include verbal, written, and interpersonal Proficiency in Microsoft Word Certification in First Aid/CPR and Handle with Care or ability to obtain certification Must have a valid Driver's License Fluency in Spanish is a plus For consideration submit a Cover Letter, Resume, and Virginia State Application. $59,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
