$27.31- $30.
Hourly DOE Level II Hiring Range:
$30.17- $33.

$2,184.80- $2,404.
Biweekly DOE Level II Hiring Range:
$2,413.60- $2,655.
I MINIMUM
Equivalent to graduation from high school and some college coursework in a related field or one (1) year of work experience which has involved extensive public contact.PREFERRED
In addition to the minimum, an Associate's degree from an accredited college with major coursework in psychology, administration of justice/criminology, behavioral or social sciences, social work, or related field and one (1) year experience working with juveniles in a Title 15 detention facility. In addition to the requirements of the I level, one (1) year of experience in counseling and overseeing juveniles in a Title 15 detention facility equivalent to the County's class of Juvenile Corrections Officer I and successful completion of the Juvenile Counselor Core curriculum approved by Standards of Training and Corrections.PREFERRED
In addition to the minimum, an Associate's degree from an accredited college with major coursework in psychology, administration of justice/criminology, behavioral or social sciences, social work or related field and up to three (3) years experience working in counseling and overseeing juveniles in a Title 15 detention facility equivalent to the County's class of Juvenile Corrections Officer I.Licenses and Certification:
The ability to obtain a valid California Class C driver's license within ten (10) days of employment; maintain throughout employment. Possess or obtain a valid First Aid and CPR Certification within one (1) year of appointment to classification and maintain annually thereafter. Possess or obtain California 832 PC Certification for limited peace officer status within one (1) year of appointment to classification. Complete California State Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, Standards and Training for Corrections (STC) Juvenile Counselor Core Course Certificate within one (1) year of appointment to classification. Must successfully complete additional required certified instruction and maintain annually thereafter.Special Requirements:
Positions in this classification are Peace Officers as defined in Section 830.55 of the California Penal Code, and must meet employment guidelines and standards established by the Commission for Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) for peace officers; the provisions of Sections 1029 and 1031 of the California Government Code; and the Standards and Training for Corrections (STC), Selection and Training Standards, as contained in Title 15, Sections 100-358, California Code of Regulations including passing a detailed background investigation in a fingerprint check, having no felony convictions, passing a medical and psychological exam, being at least 21 years of age by the time of appointment, being a U.S. citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States. DMV printout prior to hire. Work any scheduled rotational shift as assigned, including evening, night, weekend, and holiday shifts. Meet and maintain appropriate state standards concerning physical and psychological characteristics. Will be required to perform disaster service activities pursuant to Government Code 3100-3109.EXTRA-HELP EXPECTATIONS
MUST be available to work the following 12 hour shifts which may include holidays: Day Shift- Sunday through Saturday (6:00 a.m.
- 6:00 p.m.) Night Shift
- Sunday through Saturday (6:00 p.m.
- 6:00 a.m.) Minimum monthly commitment
- 36 hours each month which MUST include availability for at least one night shift per month. Calendaring
- MUST submit a monthly availability calendar to the Juvenile Hall Control Room Operator (CRO) for the following month's availability.
- A CRO will notify you of the schedule and make every effort to do so at least 7 days in advance of your confirmed work schedule, except in the case of emergencies and unscheduled leave. Shift cancellations
- MUST contact the on duty Supervisor for approval and make every effort to provide at least 7 days notice. Urgent cancellations (i.e. sick)
- Contact the on duty Supervisor as soon as possible prior to shift. From time to time, you may be needed to assist in case of emergencies and unscheduled leaves. In these instances, a CRO may reach out to you to check availability. You should make your best effort to return calls in a reasonable amount of time to indicate availability. Cases of Emergency
