Starside Security is currently hiring Detention Officers in San Diego, CA. Join the Starside team of highly trained security professionals! For over 25 years, Starside has been a licensed security and protective services firm, trusted to staff and run operations including detention services at various government locations.

Pay:

$38.49 per hour, plus $5.09 per hour health and welfare. Specific qualifications and requirements include but are not limited to the information below. Starside has assignments in San Diego. Qualifications and Education Requirements Must have at least one (1) year of full-time experience as an armed detention officer monitoring detainees and handling matters related to prisoner handling and detention on a regular basis - acquired within the last 5 years. CA Guard Card and Firearm Permit a must. Class B drivers encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, maintains the secure custody, protection, and safekeeping of federal detainees. Accept detainees offered for custody, confinement, transport, escort, or protection. Maintain constant physical control and visual contact of detainees at all times. Treat detainees, coworkers, clients, and the public with professionalism, courtesy, and respect at all times. Transport/escort detainees to and from medical facilities for treatment. Demonstrate efficiency and good judgment in the application and removal of restraint devices. Conduct pat searches of detainees for weapons and contraband. Maintain records and report all daily incidents, accidents, and emergencies. Reflect a professional demeanor at all times while in uniform, on post, or on a client's property. Report to posts/assignments on time and in full uniform, ready to work. Adhere to all policies, procedures, lawful orders, and directives. Maintain confidentiality of all company, client, and related information. Ensure all applicable licensing is current (e.g., Guard Card, Firearm Permit). Able to operate company vehicles safely and in accordance with all local, state, and federal laws. Officers must have successfully completed a weapons proficiency course and be authorized to carry a firearm when assigned in an armed capacity. 9mm caliber a must.

Requirements:

Must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident (green card holder), as required by our federal contract. Be 21 years or older. Must hold an active California BSIS Security Guard Registration (Guard Card) in good standing. Must hold an active California BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit in good standing, with 9mm qualification. Speak, read, and write the English language. High School Diploma or G.E.D. certification. Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license. Must be able to pass a government-level background investigation. Not currently use illegal drugs or controlled substances. Clear background, no criminal record Must be able to pass a government background clearance
