No Location CountyOrange Street AddressMid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center 2834 Route 17 M CityNew Hampton StateNY Zip Code10958 Job Specifics Duties DescriptionMid-Hudson Forensic Psychiatric Center (MHFPC), an Office of Mental Health (OMH) Joint Commission accredited hospital, is recruiting a Medical Specialist 2/Board-Certified Physician Psychiatrists for their secure adult facility located in New Hampton, NY. The shift schedule is from 7:30 AM - 4:30PM. As a Medical Specialist 2 at MFPC, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered, and recovery-focused treatments to individuals admitted by court order including:

• Conducting physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and diagnosing and treating medical conditions
  
• Prescribing medications, therapies, vaccinations, and other specialized medical care
  
• Attending treatment team meetings
  
• Managing rapid responses and crises
  
• Participating in discharge planning and working collaboratively with other providers and disciplines as needed to facilitate medical follow-up after discharge
  
• Assisting in the development of medical policies, reviewing patient records for new admissions, and ensuring all medical documentation compliance with facility, state and federal standards

About MHFPC:

MHFPC offers a comprehensive range of care and treatment for individuals aged 16 and older who have been incarcerated in state and county correctional systems. This service is provided at their secure forensic inpatient hospital and through a network of corrections-based mental health units that serve individuals in the custody of the New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision (DOCCS). Located in Orange County, MHFPC is just an hour's drive from the heart of Manhattan and serves as a central hub for various experiences and adventures in upstate New York. Minimum QualificationsCandidates from outside State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement - Statewide (NY HELPS) program if they are licensed to practice medicine in New York State and have certification by Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty. OR Candidates from within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.
