School Lunch Aide General Description:
The School Lunch Aide supports the safe, orderly, and efficient operation of the school cafeteria during meal periods. This role focuses on student supervision, maintaining a clean environment, and reinforcing positive behavior expectations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise students in the cafeteria during lunch periods
Promote and enforce school rules and appropriate student behavior
Assist younger students with opening food containers, utensils, and general needs as appropriate
Monitor student movement to and from the cafeteria (e.g., entry, dismissal, recess transitions)
Maintain cleanliness of tables and eating areas between lunch periods
Respond to minor student issues and refer more serious concerns to appropriate staff
Support cafeteria staff as needed (non-food preparation tasks only)
Ensure student safety at all times, including awareness of allergies and special considerations
Report incidents, injuries, or concerns to administration promptly
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting preferred
Ability to maintain a calm, patient, and professional demeanor
Ability to follow directions and work as part of a team

Performing the duties of this position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time, as well as frequent reaching, bending, stooping, and occasional kneeling or crouching. The role may involve light lifting and carrying of items such as trays, cleaning supplies, or small equipment (generally up to 25 pounds).
The position requires the ability to move quickly and safely throughout the cafeteria to monitor and assist students. Occasional outdoor supervision (e.g., transitions to recess) may involve exposure to sun, heat, cold, or inclement weather.
The employee must be able to work effectively in an environment with moderate to high noise levels typical of a school cafeteria.
Terms of Employment:
10 month position, non-union, part time (8-10 hrs/week aligning with school lunch schedule)
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of support services.

$18.00/hr
