This energetic position offers an opportunity to support children during their daily commutes, promote safety, and foster a positive environment for students with disabilities or special education needs. As a School Van Aide, you will work closely with drivers, teachers, and parents to uphold school policies and provide compassionate assistance to students, making a meaningful difference in their educational journey. Responsibilities Assist the school bus driver in supervising students during transportation, ensuring their safety and well-being throughout the trip Support students with physical disabilities or special needs by helping them board, disembark, and secure themselves safely on the bus Enforce school policies and transportation safety regulations to maintain a secure environment for all students Implement behavior management techniques to promote positive conduct and address conflicts or disruptions calmly and effectively Communicate regularly with parents and school staff regarding student behavior, needs, or concerns during transit Support emergency procedures including evacuation drills and first aid response when necessary Maintain confidentiality of student information and adhere strictly to privacy policies Experience Prior experience working with children, especially those with disabilities or in special education settings Knowledge of behavior management strategies tailored for students with special needs Certification in First Aid and CPR is highly desirable; training will be provided if needed Familiarity with school policies, safety regulations, and transportation procedures Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and students Ability to handle conflict situations with patience, professionalism, and conflict management skills Physical ability to assist students during boarding/disembarking and support mobility as required This role is an essential part of our commitment to providing safe, supportive transportation for all students.
