POSITION STATUS
Part-time HOURS:
10:30 AM - 1:00 PM (approximately 12.5 hours per week, 5 days per week)
COMPENSATION
$18 per hour

ABOUT NORTH LAKES ACADEMY
North Lakes Academy (NLA) is a K-12 charter school located in Forest Lake, Minnesota, approximately 25 miles north of the Twin Cities metropolitan area. NLA serves about 425 students across an elementary campus (grades K-6) and a secondary campus (grades 7-12). At all grade levels, NLA embraces small class sizes, personalized learning, and a diverse liberal arts education while fostering emotional intelligence and strong relationships between students, families, and staff.
JOB DESCRIPTION
North Lakes Academy is seeking a Lunch/Recess Monitor for the K-6 campus. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, positive, and supportive environment for students during their lunch and recess periods. The ideal candidate brings energy, strong communication skills, and a commitment to student well-being.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervise students during lunch and recess to ensure safety and appropriate behavior Enforce school rules using positive and proactive behavior management strategies Support students in developing respectful social interactions and inclusive play Monitor student activity to prevent bullying, unsafe behavior, or accidents Respond promptly to incidents or emergencies, including basic first aid when needed Support students with special needs or behavioral challenges as appropriate Collaborate with staff to maintain a positive school climate Foster a welcoming and engaging midday environment for all students
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with children or in childcare settings preferred Knowledge of behavior management and conflict resolution strategies Strong communication skills with students and staff Ability to maintain a safe, structured, and positive environment First aid certification preferred Experience working with diverse learners or special education support is a plus
