Crossing Guard :

Work under minimal supervision to assist children and others to safely cross the street at assigned intersections during designated hours.

Qualifications:

Special Knowledge/Skills:

Basic knowledge of traffic safety regulations. Ability to identify and respond quickly to traffic safety hazards. Ability to communicate instructions effectively to children and adults. Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions.

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist children and community members to safely cross the street at assigned intersections during designated hours. Identify potential traffic safety hazards and respond quickly to protect children and avoid incidents. Ensure smooth flow of vehicular and foot traffic. Follow and uphold district safety requirements; report traffic violations and student misconduct per district procedures. Communicate safety and traffic rules to students and parents as needed. Correct unsafe conditions when possible and report uncorrectable hazards to supervisor promptly. Respond to emergency calls as needed.

Working Conditions:

Physical Demands:

Prolonged standing; constant walking. Grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, reaching. Light lifting (under 15 pounds). Irregular hours; occasional prolonged hours.

Environment:

Work ound moving vehicles and on slippery or uneven surfaces.

Mental Demands:

Maintain emotional control under pressure. Work with frequent interruptions.

Pay Details:
