POSITION SUMMARY
The Crossing Guard prepares crossing zones and assists children in crossing streets safely. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Assists children in crossing streets safely while traveling to and from school. Prepares school crossing zones by turning on flashing lights and placing warning cones in the street. Takes children safely across the street, watching traffic closely and stopping cars if necessary. Participates in special events as asked by school administrators and/or sergeant. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS
Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, or any equivalent combination of related education and experience.
NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of current Utah traffic laws; knowledge of emergency procedures. Skill in the use of materials, equipment, and tools necessary to cross children. Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Ability to follow instructions. Ability to work effectively with children, parents, and school employees.
