Job Description
The Town of Brentwood is seeking an experienced Town Engineer (Municipal Infrastructure Consultant) to provide professional engineering services and strategic technical guidance to support the Town's infrastructure, capital improvement program, public works operations, development review, and long-term community planning. This position is an independent professional services contract providing approximately 40 hours per month of engineering support. The selected consultant will serve as the Town's engineering advisor and work closely with the Town Administrator, Mayor, Town Council, staff, contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies. This opportunity is ideal for a licensed Professional Engineer with municipal, public works, infrastructure, or consulting experience who is interested in supporting a growing municipality. Scope of Services and Responsibilities Infrastructure Planning & Capital Improvement Program Provide engineering guidance for municipal infrastructure projects, including streets, sidewalks, drainage systems, stormwater facilities, and public improvements. Assist with development and annual updates to the Town's Capital Improvement Program (CIP). Evaluate infrastructure needs and provide recommendations regarding repair, replacement, and long-term investment priorities. Support asset management planning and infrastructure condition assessments. Project Management & Construction Support Review project scopes, plans, specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and technical documents. Provide engineering oversight for capital projects from planning through completion. Conduct periodic site inspections and provide technical recommendations. Review contractor submissions, invoices, change orders, and project deliverables. Coordinate with contractors, consultants, utilities, County, State agencies, and regulatory partners. Development Review & Permitting Support Review engineering plans, site plans, subdivision plans, grading plans, and stormwater management plans. Provide technical recommendations regarding compliance with Town standards and applicable regulations. Support staff review of development applications and infrastructure-related permits.
