Description Team Leader, Environmental Halff has an opening for an experienced, detail oriented, well organized, dependable, and highly motivated senior environmental scientist, geologist, or geoscientist to be a Team Leader on our established and growing Environmental team out of our San Antonio, Texas office. This leadership role is ideal for a motivated professional with strong technical expertise in the environmental consulting industry and a passion for developing teams, managing clients, and driving project success. The ideal candidate should have at least fifteen (15) years of experience in the environmental consulting industry with experience successfully completing projects under regulatory programs such as the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), Texas Risk Reduction Program (TRRP), Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and/or Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA). This position would be part of a very skilled team and involves working closely with clients, other Project Managers and Team Leaders, and technical staff performing due diligence, remediation, compliance, and other environmental sampling and analysis activities. This position will be responsible for overseeing large/complex projects, managing budgets, supporting/mentoring junior professionals, coordinating with clients, and winning work. Strong technical understanding/capabilities of both field activities and regulatory reporting is required. What you will do:
In this role, you will serve as both a technical expert and team leader, responsible for delivering high-quality projects while guiding the growth and performance of a natural resources team. Project Delivery & Technical Leadership Lead and oversee the preparation and delivery of large scale federal projects including Site Investigations, Remedial Investigations, Feasibility Studies, and Remediation Actions.
Provide technical guidance and quality control to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and Halff QA/QC standards.
Coordinate with regulatory agencies, clients, and stakeholders to successfully advance projects. Team Leadership & Operations Manage, mentor, and develop a team of environmental and geologic professionals, fostering engagement and professional growth
Oversee team workload, staffing, and resource allocation to meet project and operational goals
Lead regular team coordination efforts, including production meetings and performance feedback
Ensure team performance aligns with project schedules, budgets, and quality expectations Financial & Project Management Manage project budgets, schedules, and profitability, ensuring successful delivery on time and within budget
Oversee subconsultants and internal resources to maintain efficient project execution
Participate in contract review, coordination, and execution with an understanding of business risk and project planning Client & Business Development Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships and serve as a trusted advisor
Support and lead business development efforts, including proposals, pursuits, and marketing strategies
Collaborate with operations leadership to grow Halff's environmental remediation practice in the San Antonio and Central/South Texas region What you will need: Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in environmental science, geology, environmental engineering, or related field; Master's Degree preferred
A minimum of 15 years of experience in collection and preparation of information as it pertains to the local, state, and federal regulation of natural resources
Experience managing projects and preparing documentation for compliance with TRRP, CERCLA, or RCRA and possess a thorough understanding of relevant regulatory requirements
Demonstrated experience leading projects, managing teams, and delivering complex environmental efforts
Strong knowledge of federal and Texas regulations
Excellent research, analytical, and written and oral communication skills, with experience communicating with the public
Positive attitude, initiative, and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
Ability to evaluate laboratory analytical data and field observations and clearly communicate technical information both verbally and in written reports
Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with clients, peers, management, and vendors to successfully meet shifting needs
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Willingness to obtain certifications and participate in training activities as needed to support the team
Candidate will be required to pass a background check in order to enter Federal Facilities
