E xamination:

Written Exam (Weight 100%): Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of c urrent Kern County Paramedic protocols; English language and grammar; basic record keeping; basic computer skills; safe and effective o peration of emergency vehicles and knowledge of current vehicle codes. The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination. Employment Standards:

High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. Possess and maintain the following licenses/certifications: Valid California Motor Vehicle Driver's License. Valid Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Ambulance Driver Certificate. Valid Paramedic license issued by the California State EMS Authority. Valid CPR and Advanced Cardias Life Support (ACLS) Certifications. Incumbents will be required to obtain a hoist rescue certification within one year of appointment. Failure to maintain any of the required certifications or licenses as outlined in LEMSA Paramedic policies will result in discipline up to and including termination.
