Job Description
The City of Belfast is accepting applications for the position of full-time Paramedic/Firefighter. This is a skilled Firefighting and EMS position consisting of EMS responsibilities, both Emergency and non-emergency, as well as combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires. This role involves responding to a wide range of fire suppression and medical emergencies to ensure the stability and safety of our community. The successful candidate must have a High School Diploma or equivalent and possess and maintain a valid State of Maine Class C operator's license. A Fire or EMS-related Associate Degree, and a Maine Paramedic license is preferred. Candidates with AEMT who are obtaining a Paramedic qualification are encouraged to apply. Additionally, a State of Maine Firefighter I/II certification is desired, including SCBA certification. Detailed job description with certification requirements is available on our website. Schedules include up to 24/hr rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Candidates must successfully complete a comprehensive background check and physical exam upon receiving a conditional offer. The City offers a generous benefits package for full-time roles, including 14 paid holidays, Medical, Dental, Short-Term Disability and Life Insurance, Maine PERS Retirement, Vacation, Sick leave, and PTO. Base hourly rate for Firefighter/Paramedic - $28.39. Pay rates are dependent upon qualification level and experience. All applications are to be submitted in confidence.
