Job Description
Performs professional Pro Tempore (Pro Tem) judicial duties involved in interpreting and applying the local, State and Federal laws, conducts the hearing of minimal court cases and determines cases which are in the jurisdiction of the Court. Pro Tem Judges will be contacted to relieve Full-Time judges/hearing officer on an as needed basis, sometimes with short notice. Assignments can include weekend and holiday duties. The position is part-time, on-call covering judicial absences or special calendars at the City Court. Appointed by the City Council to a two-year term, with opportunities for subsequent reappointment to a four-year term. Current pay rate is $83.39 per hour. Education and Experience A Juris Doctorate from an accredited law school. At least five years of legal work experience. Licensing, Certifications, and Other Requirements Current membership in the Arizona State Bar Association. Every person employed by the City of Scottsdale shall reside in the State of Arizona during his or her active employment by the City, regardless of whether the employee is approved to remote work. Other pertinent licenses and/or certifications may be required of some positions depending on division/department/service assignment.
