Job Description
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Licensure Unit Supervisor this position is responsible for the processing of initial licenses and licensure renewal activity for allopathic physicians (MDs), podiatric physicians (DPMs) and physician assistants (PAs) as deemed necessary. Duties Performed include but are not limited to:- Process license applications, records, or documents to gather information about eligibility or liability issues for all applicants.
- Evaluate records, or documents to gather information about eligibility issues for medical doctors applying for the following license types: initial traditional, administrative medicine, medical school faculty and restricted license in extraordinary circumstances.
- Evaluate records, or documents to gather information about eligibility issues for podiatric physicians and physician assistants.
- Advise via email or other written communication licensees or other individuals or groups concerning licensing, permit, or passport regulations. Includes questioning applicants to obtain required information, such as name, address, or age, and record data on prescribed forms.
- Prepare correspondence to inform concerned parties of licensing decisions or appeals processes; includes issuing temporary licenses to individuals meeting standards.
- Prepare files and scan documents related to medical doctors, podiatric physicians and physician assistants.
- Confer with or interview officials, technical or professional specialists, or applicants to obtain information or to clarify facts relevant to licensing decisions.
- Evaluate and process Practice Notifications required for physician assistants to collaborate with other West Virginia licensed allopathic, osteopathic and podiatric physicians.
- Use computers for various applications, such as database management or word processing, including updating License Status, name changes, address changes, work & supervisor changes via proprietary software.
