The Legal Services Coordinator helps Greater Future participants identify legal-service needs and connects them with appropriate attorneys, legal-aid organizations, and community resources. The position supports individuals experiencing legal barriers that may interfere with successful reentry, employment, housing, family stability, and overall self-sufficiency. The Legal Services Coordinator works closely with Greater Future's Licensed Attorney, Reentry Case Managers, Workforce Development Specialist, Reentry Outreach Specialist, and community partners to ensure participants receive coordinated and timely support. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Conduct initial screenings to identify participants who may need legal assistance. Coordinate referrals and appointments with Greater Future's Licensed Attorney and outside legal-service providers. Assist participants with gathering documents and information needed for legal appointments and referrals. Help participants navigate legal-service systems and understand the administrative steps required to access services. Coordinate services related to potential legal barriers involving criminal records, identification, housing, employment, family matters, public benefits, and other reentry-related concerns. Assist with coordinating eligible expungement and record-sealing services under the direction of a licensed attorney. Maintain communication with participants regarding appointments, referrals, documentation requirements, and follow-up services. Develop and maintain relationships with legal-aid organizations, attorneys, courts, community organizations, and other appropriate service providers. Coordinate legal-information workshops, expungement or record-relief events, and community legal-resource events. Work with Reentry Case Managers to incorporate appropriate legal-service referrals into participants' service plans. Collaborate with workforce staff when legal barriers affect a participant's ability to obtain or maintain employment. Track referrals, appointments, services received, and participant outcomes for program and grant-reporting purposes. Maintain accurate and confidential participant records and documentation. Protect confidential and privileged information according to organizational policies and applicable requirements. Recognize when an issue requires review by the Licensed Attorney and promptly refer the matter. Attend staff meetings, case conferences when appropriate, training, and community partnership meetings. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications A high school diploma or GED is required. An associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, legal studies, social work, human services, public administration, or a related field is preferred. Relevant experience in legal services, reentry programs, case management, community services, or administrative coordination may be considered. Candidates should have strong organizational, communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills; basic computer proficiency; attention to detail; and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information professionally. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience working in a legal-aid organization, law office, court-related program, reentry program, or community-based organization is preferred. Knowledge of community legal resources and experience working with justice-involved individuals or underserved populations is beneficial. The ideal candidate will be compassionate, organized, dependable, nonjudgmental, and capable of helping participants navigate complicated systems while maintaining professional boundaries. Important Scope of Position The Legal Services Coordinator is not serving as an attorney and does not provide legal advice, interpret laws for participants, or represent participants in legal proceedings unless the individual separately holds the required professional license and is authorized by Greater Future to perform those duties. Legal questions requiring professional judgment should be referred to Greater Future's Licensed Attorney or another qualified legal-service provider.
