SUMMARY:
This role combines strategic legal counseling with sophisticated commercial transaction work, supporting marketing campaigns, partnerships, sponsorships, influencer programs, celebrity engagements, experiential events, media integrations, sales initiatives, and other high-profile consumer-facing projects. Ideal candidates enjoy partnering closely with the business, providing practical, solutions-oriented advice, and serving as trusted advisors who help teams achieve their goals while effectively managing risk.
JOB DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provides legal support to various business teams, including marketing, advertising, sales, and communications teams across the United States, Canada, and Latin America.
Negotiates, prepares, administers, and consults on complex company-wide contracts, including agreements for promotions, sponsorships, marketing partnerships, media integrations, influencers and celebrities, agency services, production services, tradeshows and events, sales and distribution, software subscriptions, IP licenses, etc.
Partners closely with the business to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice that enables business objectives while managing risk.
Advises on marketing campaigns and assists with legal review of Nintendo advertising, marketing, and promotional materials.
Communicates with and directs outside contacts, including outside counsel, with respect to marketing laws, antitrust, regulatory compliance, intellectual property and/or contract matters.
May assign, monitor, and review the work of assigned staff.
Assists with budget development.
Reviews company activities and policies for legal compliance and adherence to domestic and foreign governmental policies and regulations.
Provides legal advice to and responds to various inquiries from company departments, subsidiaries, and affiliates.
May conduct in-house training seminars.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum five (5) years of experience as a practicing lawyer, including experience working with marketing teams.
Strong understanding of intellectual property, marketing law, and contracts law.
Working knowledge of a variety of legal areas including commercial law, entertainment law, and antitrust.
Extensive document drafting and negotiation experience, including agreements related to marketing, advertising, promotions, and sales, IP licenses, and other commercial agreements.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with fluctuating priorities and deadlines.
Strong knowledge of video game industry and Nintendo products helpful, but not required.
Requires specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise in own job family or field.
EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS
Law degree. Membership in the Washington State Bar Association, or other comparable state qualification. Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be considered. Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. This position is hybrid in Redmond, WA. Hybrid positions require regular onsite work following the schedule and guidelines for their division. This position is not open to fully remote status at this time. This position includes the base pay range listed below, potential for a semi-annual discretionary performance bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and paid time off.
Pay Range:
$174,050 — $313,350 USD
