Job Description

Bring Your Experience to Alameda County The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is hiring experienced peace officers for Deputy Sheriff II lateral positions . Continue your law enforcement career with an agency serving one of California's most diverse communities. Qualified California peace officers and eligible out-of-state officers are encouraged to apply. Earn up to $159,827 per year, plus a $15,000 hiring bonus. About the Position As a Deputy Sheriff II, you will protect lives, maintain public safety, enforce laws, and respond to emergencies throughout Alameda County. Depending on your assignment, your responsibilities may include: Patrolling assigned communities and facilities Responding to emergencies and calls for service Conducting investigations and preparing reports Enforcing local, state, and federal laws Supervising individuals in custody Providing courthouse and courtroom security Serving civil process documents Supporting emergency and public-safety operations Working collaboratively with law enforcement personnel and community partners Minimum Qualifications Candidates must meet one of the following experience requirements: Have at least 36 months of full-time peace officer experience with a California law enforcement agency and possess a California POST Basic Certificate ; or Have qualifying out-of-state peace officer experience and possess a valid California POST Basic Course Waiver (BCW) Applicants must also: Be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment Possess a valid California driver's license by the time of appointment Be legally authorized to work in the United States Have no felony convictions Pass a comprehensive background investigation Pass psychological and medical evaluations Meet the required physical fitness, vision, and hearing standards Lateral Hiring Process Qualified candidates will move through the following process: Submit an interest form Complete the pre-screening survey Submit the official employment application Participate in an interview Complete the background investigation Pass psychological and medical examinations Receive a final offer upon successful completion of all requirements Take the Next Step in Your Law Enforcement Career Your experience matters.
