St. Louis Lambert International Airport (Employees assigned to St. Louis Lambert International Airport may be eligible for a commuting allowance of $180.00 bi-weekly.) This position is an entry-level secretarial position within the City of St. Louis's secretarial group job family. Incumbents in this classification perform routine clerical duties with an emphasis on secretarial support and correspondence preparation. This position will be used to support the Airport Police Chief in the St. Louis Airport Police Department. This person will perform a wide range of routine and non-routine advanced, highly confidential secretarial duties.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Reports directly to the Airport Chief of Police. Schedules meetings for the Airport Chief of Police. Serves as the receptionist and first contact for the Airport Police Chief's office and managers located in that office suite. Answers telephones and directs incoming phone calls. Takes messages as needed and refers calls to appropriate city personnel. Greets the public, City managers, governmental representatives, and dignitaries visiting the Airport Chief of Police or other members of the office suite. Maintains a pleasant attitude and exercises good judgment in providing information and answering questions. Provides high quality customer service to both internal and external customers. Types a variety of correspondence, including letters, charts, reports, etc. for the Chief of Police and other staff members. Tracks, compiles, and/or retrieves department wide paperwork, such as personnel documentation, general order receipts, accident reports, service ratings, etc. through the various channels. Opens and routes mail received for the Chief of Police. Ensures timely and accurate distribution of Airport Police Department mail to various bureaus and divisions. Performs copying, faxing, and mailing of paperwork. Maintains office filing system. Performs special assignments such as maintaining log of events during uncommon and/or emergency incidents. Contacts appropriate individuals for response to emergencies, etc. Performs other clerical duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
A ten year background investigation will be conducted in accordance with FAA regulations for positions at St. Louis Lambert International Airport. Qualifications One year of recent secretarial/clerical experience. Secretarial/clerical or computer coursework may substitute for the one year of the required experience. Must have skill in using word processing, spreadsheet, or database computer applications.
