Full-Time Pay:

Up to $134,000/yr $25,000 Hiring Sign-On Bonus for Lateral Officers Join the Clark County Sheriff's Office The Clark County Sheriff's Office is actively recruiting experienced law enforcement officers to join our full-service agency. We are committed to community-oriented policing and are looking for experienced officers with strong communication, leadership, active listening, decision-making, and problem-solving skills. Starting salary is based on applicable experience. What You'll Do As a Deputy Sheriff, responsibilities may include: Patrol assigned areas and respond to emergency and routine calls Conduct criminal investigations and interview witnesses and suspects Make arrests and transport prisoners Serve warrants and civil processes Enforce traffic laws and investigate collisions Control disturbances and safely restrain individuals when necessary Prepare reports and testify in court Assist the public with crime prevention and safety concerns Build relationships with residents, businesses, schools, and community organizations Career Opportunities Experienced deputies may pursue specialty assignments including: SWAT Traffic Narcotics Detectives K-9 Gangs Marine Patrol Child Abuse School Resource Officer Hostage Negotiation Bomb Technician Additional training is provided for specialty assignments, and promotional opportunities are available through competitive civil service examinations.

Lateral Qualifications Candidates must:

Hold current law enforcement certification through a U.S. state-certified academy recognized by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission Have successfully completed a bona fide Field Training program Have full-time patrol experience performing duties autonomously as a sworn peace officer Obtain Washington State certification/equivalency within the required probationary period if not already certified in Washington Have a valid driver's license at appointment Be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident at application Be able to read and write English Meet the physical and mental requirements of the position Possess strong writing and report-preparation skills Have no prior felony convictions and meet applicable background standards Selection Process Qualified candidates may complete an application review, comprehensive background investigation, final selection interview, physical agility assessment, polygraph examination, psychological evaluation, medical examination, and drug screening.
