Serve as a police patrol officer enforcing Federal criminal laws and the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) involving persons and property. Protect government property, materials and facilities against trespass, theft, fire, damage and espionage. Detain or arrest suspected or guilty persons. Collect and protect evidence, witnesses, victims, etc. Arrest persons committing or suspected of committing crimes on the installation. Patrol assigned area by vehicle or on foot to preserve the peace, prevent crime, and protect lives and property. Requirements Conditions of employment This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. This position requires certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitation with Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) training. The duties of this position require the incumbent to possess or obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles. This position is subject to the provisions of the Domestic Violence Offender Gun Ban commonly referred to as the Lautenberg Amendment. This position has been designated "Mission Essential". In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent is required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. Due to the nature of this position, employees are required to work both planned and unscheduled overtime. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time. This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position. Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
