Continuous Starting Salary:

Uniforms Provided Role and Responsibilities:

Maintain care, custody and control of inmate population, serving a variety of assignments in the Corrections Bureau. Interpret and enforce all applicable federal, state and local laws, general orders, directives, policies and procedures of the Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Florida Model Jail Standards Work schedule will be 12 hour rotating shifts

Physical Demands:

Must take and pass the Physical Abilities Testing (PAT) with a maximum time of 6:04

Minimum Qualifications and Education Requirements:

Must be 18 years old, or older Must have obtained a high school diploma or GED Must be a US Citizen Must have a valid Florida Driver's License Must have a Social Security Card Must have successfully passed the Florida Corrections State Officer Certification Exam (SOCE) or are currently attending a Florida approved Criminal Justice Academy for Corrections Must not have been convicted of a felony Must not have used illegal drugs in the last 12 months Must not have received a dishonorable discharge from the United States Armed Forces Must be able to work various shifts with rotating days off, as well as weekends, holidays and emergency events such as hurricanes Must be able to speak, write and understand the English language

Preferred Skills:

Computer literacy Knowledge of Lee County geography Polite, courteous and professional demeanor Bilingual Experience as a Corrections Officer in the state of Florida or out of state Currently attending a Florida approved Criminal Justice Academy for Corrections Experience working or volunteering with a law enforcement agency or a Correctional Institute in a civilian or certified capacity
