Police Officer (4275) Main Campus - Marietta, GA 30060 Apply Overview Position Type Full Time Staff Apply Description PURPOSE Under general supervision, monitors and patrols District facilities, property, and surrounding areas for the purposes of performing law enforcement, emergency response, and crime prevention functions to provide a safe environment for students, staff, and the public.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Develops and implements a student-centered approach to community policing, focusing on student development and assistance. Patrols to detect and deter crime and to help when need Maintain effective liaison with local outside law enforcement agencies. (i.e., Marietta Police Department, Cobb County Sheriff's Office, GEMA, etc.) Ability to lead law enforcement efforts in response to critical incidents. Ability to manage third-party private security contracts. Prepares required reports. Checks the security of buildings. Investigates suspicious activities or persons. Investigates traffic accidents and criminal or non-criminal incidents. Makes arrests and issue citations to individuals who have committed a crime. Responds to emergency incidents. Provides security and traffic enforcement at special events. Respond to calls for maintenance issues and relay information as needed. Assist local jurisdictions as outline in the Georgia mutual aid act. Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and/or Experience Build and maintain positive working relationships with the public using principles of good customer service Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position. Good standing with
GA P.O.S.T
Ability to successfully pass department background investigation. Ability to successfully pass Human Resources background investigation. Valid Georgia driver's license. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to promote vision, work ethic, and accountability in a team environment. Ability to model integrity, character and leadership for providing excellence in chiropractic to humanity. Ability to model optimal citizenship attributes in the Life community. Ability to maintain mental concentration for extended periods of time. Ability to perform multiple duties in addition to departmental responsibilities with competing pressures and distractions. Ability to manage time effectively. Ability to tolerate, implement and embrace change. Capability to analyze and effectively resolve relational conflicts in clinical and other situations under routine and crisis demands. Certifications, Licenses, registrations Must be Georgia P.O.S.T. certified Valid Georgia Driver's License or eligible to obtain within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
AA or AS Degree in Criminal Justice from an accredited College/University and two (2) years of law enforcement experience.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Nature of work requires an ability to operate security vehicle, computer equipment, and radio. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collects, compiles, compares, and prepares work documents, set-up and maintain work files. Must be able to lift between 40 lbs individually and up to 100 lbs with assistance; retrieving and placing materials on high shelves and on floor-level shelves; standing, walking; carrying; grasping; hearing; seeing; sitting; kneeling; climbing; balancing; stooping; crouching and reaching.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is mostly performed in a general office environment. However, there are times that this individual will cover for other officers in the field or on another shift. Each officer must be certified in the use of police equipment such as a firearm, handcuffs, radio and baton. This department is available 24/7.
