Champaign Police Officers help protect the community through proactive policing, emergency response, investigations, traffic enforcement, and daily interaction with residents. What You'll Do Patrol neighborhoods, streets, businesses, and other areas throughout Champaign Respond to calls for service and emergencies Prevent crime and enforce state laws and City ordinances Conduct preliminary investigations Regulate traffic and respond to traffic-related incidents Apprehend offenders when necessary Work assigned shifts and special assignments Build positive relationships within the community Minimum Qualifications Applicants must: Be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States Have a high school diploma or equivalent Possess a valid driver's license Be at least 21 years old by the date of hire Successfully meet required background, medical, physical, and psychological standards Certain criminal convictions or serious traffic offenses may result in disqualification.
