Job Description

Overview Join our dedicated law enforcement team as a Patrol Officer and become a vital part of maintaining safety, order, and community trust. In this dynamic role, you will patrol designated areas to deter and respond to incidents, enforce laws and regulations, and provide assistance to the public. Your proactive presence will help create a secure environment for residents, visitors, and staff alike. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to serve with integrity, demonstrate leadership, and develop valuable skills in law enforcement operations. Responsibilities Conduct routine patrols on foot or in standard passenger vehicles to monitor assigned areas for suspicious activity, violations, or emergencies. Respond promptly to calls for service, including accidents, disturbances, or criminal activity, while following proper arrest procedures and safety protocols. Enforce traffic laws by issuing citations or warnings, managing traffic flow, and investigating traffic-related incidents. Perform detailed report writing documenting incidents, observations, arrests, and investigations accurately and thoroughly. Apply evidence law and search and seizure procedures when collecting evidence at crime scenes or during investigations. Utilize surveillance techniques and use of force training to assess situations effectively while ensuring safety for all involved parties. Engage in conflict management and de-escalation tactics to resolve disputes peacefully while maintaining professionalism at all times. Requirements Physically fit to meet the demands of patrol duties including sustained walking, standing, and quick response actions. Background in military service or prior law enforcement experience is highly desirable. Excellent report writing skills with attention to detail; ability to document incidents clearly and accurately. Ability to handle animal encounters responsibly when necessary Effective communication skills combined with leadership qualities that foster teamwork and community engagement. Valid operator's license Clean criminal history Pass a background check High school diploma or equivalent Certified Peace Officer in State of Kentucky or Reciprocal state / New hire shall attend DOCJT academy What we offer: Police Officer salary $49,920-60,320 Plus State KLEFPF incentive of $4,500 yearly OT opportunities Educational Incentives 17 paid vacation days Accumulative sick and vacation time
