Non-POST Officers Salary & Pay Increases Starting Salary:

$43,553 Annual Pay Increases 2% increase on your anniversary date 1.5%-2.5% increase each July 1 (subject to city budget approval) Additional Pay for POST-Certified Officers $600/month Louisiana State Supplemental Pay after the first year $7,200 annual increase Job Summary The Sulphur Police Department is seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to serve as Police Officers protecting and serving the community. Officers patrol within city limits to maintain public safety, deter crime, enforce laws, and build strong relationships with residents and businesses. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Patrol assigned areas with a high-visibility presence to deter crime and traffic violations Respond to emergency and non-emergency calls including disturbances, thefts, crashes, homicides, ambulance assists, and civil matters Enforce traffic laws and conduct traffic stops Respond to domestic disputes and fights while de-escalating situations and maintaining order Investigate crimes, interview victims and witnesses, collect evidence, and make lawful arrests Broadcast suspect descriptions and information to assist fellow officers Prepare clear and accurate written reports following patrols and investigations Testify in court by presenting facts and evidence related to cases Participate in community outreach including school visits and public presentations Opportunities for assignment to specialized units such as Narcotics, Traffic, Detectives, or Training Qualifications Must meet Louisiana POST requirements or be eligible to attend the police academy Strong communication skills and professional judgment Ability to remain calm and effective in high-stress situations Commitment to integrity, public service, and community engagement
