New England PBA Position(s) Open until filled Job Overview The Hinsdale Police Department is seeking highly motivated, community-oriented police officers for a lateral transfer. The department is situated in the heart of the Berkshires. Successful candidates must demonstrate strong problem-solving ability, belief in a community policing model, and strong written and verbal communication skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Candidates for lateral transfer to the Hinsdale Police Department must be able to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of a patrol officer with the Police Department. These include, but are not limited to: the ability to conduct work on all shifts; conducting proactive, preventative, and responsive patrol activities; conducting introductory criminal, administrative, and traffic investigations; comprehensive and thorough report writing; completing required documentation and computer tasks; and such other duties as may be required. Minimum Requirements The successful applicant must: Be a full-time police officer, certified by the Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission, and have successfully completed an Academy recognized by the Massachusetts Police Training Committee (MPTC) or able to receive an exemption for out of state training. Have a current driver's license in excellent standing; Meet the eligibility requirements for an unrestricted License to Carry (LTC), per MGL Ch. 140 131. Salary Range:
$71,739.00-$73,330.00 (yearly contractual increases) $70.00 / Hr. Detail Rate (Paid via Revolving Account) The work schedule is flexible, with 3 days on and 3 days off.
