The Kennebunkport Police Department is seeking experienced, community-minded police officers to join our team. We offer competitive pay, a four-day workweek, excellent health and retirement benefits, and the opportunity to serve one of Maine's most distinctive coastal communities. What We Offer Starting pay of $39.77/hour Lateral entry up to $43.90/hour with 20 years of recognized experience Prior law-enforcement experience credited toward vacation accrual — up to 20 years $5,000 recruitment bonus for up to 5 years of service, $15,000 recruitment bonus for 5+ years of service. Four 10-hour shifts with three days off each week 20-year/no-age MainePERS retirement $2.00 - $4.00/hour evening and night-shift differential 85% Town-paid health insurance premiums Town-funded HRA covering 100% of the employee deductible and maximum out-of-pocket expense Town contribution to deferred compensation Paid professional training and development $100/hour for qualifying special-event assignments Dental, disability and additional Town benefits We recognize that experienced officers have earned more than a certification. Eligible lateral officers may receive credit for up to 20 years of prior law-enforcement experience for both wage placement and vacation accrual. Out-of-state certified officers who can obtain Maine certification within two months of hire are also encouraged to apply. Why Kennebunkport? Minimum Qualifications Applicants must be at least 21 years old; possess a high school diploma or GED; possess or be eligible to obtain a valid Maine driver's license; and meet applicable Maine Criminal Justice Academy certification and pre-service requirements. Successful candidates must complete the Town's selection process, which includes an oral board, background investigation, medical examination, drug screening, psychological examination, and other applicable requirements. Police officers must be available for assigned shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Applications are reviewed as they are received. The position is open until filled.
