Job Description
Job Overview The Town of Wilton is seeking a motivated and reliable individual to fill a full-time role with our Police Department. The role's primary function is to uphold the laws, policies, and regulations of the Town, the State and the Federal Government, while acting as a steward for the community and its residents. This is a great opportunity to protect and serve your community. The ideal candidate will have a combination of training and experience withing law enforcement. Responsibilities Community policing and building positive relationships with residents. Investigating crimes and assisting with case resolution, including gathering evidence, witness interviews, booking and required report completion. Traffic enforcement, patrolling neighborhoods, and answering calls and complaints Use radar to control traffic speed in community and issue citations. Responding to emergencies and incidents within the community. Participating in community events and outreach programs. Qualifications Knowledge of the buildings, roads and infrastructure of the Town, and surrounding areas. Knowledge of modern principles and practices of police work. Ability to act professionally in high pressure situations. Ability to analyze quickly and subjectively to determine course of action. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to comprehend and follow instructions. Ability to develop skills with firearms and motor vehicles. High School Diploma required, and formal training in Law Enforcement preferred. Consideration will be based on a combination of training and experience. Expected to attend and complete the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
