WHO MAY APPLY
U.S. Citizens Duties Help Directs and manages a Security Forces Flight for the installion with military, dependents, DoD civilian and contractor populions and protection level resources. Develops goals and objectives th integre organizion and flight objectives. Researches, interprets, analyzes and applies proper law enforcement and security guidelines, policies, and regulions. Establishes local policies and procedures for accomplishment of law enforcement and security objectives. Plans and schedules work in a manner th promotes a smooth flow and even distribution. Serves as the work leader by planning, organizing, and coordining the activities of three or more Police Officers. Performs and enforces the full range of police officer duties within the military installion. Directs or personally performs preliminary and final short-term investigions of a broad range of alleged and actual crimes occurring solely within the local installion jurisdiction. Acts as the on-scene incident commander for significant and castrophic events as required and inities Air Force Incident Management System (AFIMS) as needed. Performs the full range of installion perimeter access control duties. Conducts background checks of all ors requesting access onto the installion by identity proofing and vetting via Law Enforcement dabase to make a fitness determinion. Performs the full range of duties for defending Protection Level Resources. Enforces applicable security requirements. Detects and elimines thres to the restricted area and detains and apprehends violors. Processes complaints and inquiries from originion through case closure and maintains case files as approprie. Performs as Base Defense Operions Center (BDOC) Controller and Alarm Monitor. Accesses law enforcement dabases to retrieve informion and complete reports. Ensures processing in accordance with current biometric collection procedures. Conducts training classes for security forces personnel. Plans, coordines, and executes training exercises. Performs other duties as assigned. Requirements Help Conditions of employment Acceptance of an Excepted Service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. United Stes Citizenship is required. Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service. Participion in direct deposit is mandory. Failure to complete management prescribed courses for full-time support personnel within the first year of employment or assignment, may be cause for reassignment or terminion. Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigion. Position is subject to the provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program. Advanced in hire re may be granted to set pay above the minimum re of the grade for a new employee if he/she possesses superior qualificions relevant to the positions' requirements and is essential to accomplish the agency's mission. Creditable Service for Annual Leave accrual may be granted to new employees if he/she possesses superior qualificions essential to the position; and which were acquired through performance in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position. The duties performed in a non-federal or active duty uniformed service position must directly rele to the position to which appointed and such qualificions are necessary to achieve an important agency mission or performance goal to be eligible. May be required to successfully complete a trial period. Must be able to obtain and maintain the approprie security clearance of the position. Irregular and/or overtime (compensory) hours may be required to support operional requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day. This position has been identified as a designed position under the Air Force Drug Testing Plan. Incumbent(s) of this position is subject to the possibility of a random drug test. This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examinion, periodic medical examinions, required physical fitness/physical agility tests, meet established hearing standards, and discern colors, contrast, and depth. The incumbent must immediely report to his supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health stus and/or medicion requirements. Qualificions
GS-08 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE
: Must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to least the GS-07 grade level th demonstres your ability to plan, direct and oversee a security forces function; and supervise law enforcement work in the preservion of the peace; the prevention, detection, and investigion of crimes; the arrest or apprehension of violors; and the provision of assistance to citizens in emergency situions, including the protection of civil rights. The specialized experience must also demonstre your ability to plan and schedule work to be accomplished by subordines, set and adjust short-term priorities; assign work in considerion of employee skills and mission requirements; advise employees on work and administrive mters; implements methods and procedures to improve organizional performance; and identifies and assesses and revises policies and procedures as needed to find ways to improve quality, timeliness, and efficiency of work. Creditable specialized experience may have been gained in work on a police force; through service as a military police officer; in work providing or protection and law enforcement in parks, forests, or other nural resource or recreional environments; in performing criminal investigive duties; or in other work th provided the required knowledge and skills.
Additional Conditions of Employment:
Incumbent must be qualified in the use of required weapons, as the incumbent required to use firearms in performing duties. Employee is required to obtain and maintain required security clearance. Subject to annual duty position evaluion on a pass/fail standard. Must undergo initial and periodic job compibility assessment. May be required to wear protective clothing such as cos, boots, and vests and/or chemical protective equipment, (e.g., respiror mask). Must be able to opere all Security Forces Vehicles and installed equipment. An approprie, valid driver's license is required for the position. Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty stion on military or commercial aircraft. Must pass formal law enforcement training school as outlined upon selection. Incumbent exposed to the day-to-day dangers associed with law enforcement and security duties. Must obtain and maintain first responder training/certificions required in CPR techniques, self-aid buddy care and/or Tactical Comb Casualty Care (TCCC), and first aid on the job and maintain annually. Recurring training is required to keep the incumbent knowledgeable on the upded specialized tactics, techniques, and procedures necessary for preparion and response to castrophic events, terrorist tacks and reled thres to installions. The work requires regular and recurring physical exertion such as running in pursuits or emergency responses, long periods of standing, walking, bending, stooping, reaching, crawling, and similar activities. Employees engage in such exertions when responding to alarms and walking foot prols in and around buildings. This position may require common physical characteristics and abilities and dexterity and the strength to pursue and detain uncooperive suspects. Ability to employ 'infantry/SWAT' small unit tactics involving fire and maneuver, with rapid advancing movement between defensive positions, while wearing protective gear for extended periods of time, (e.g., Employing "Active Shooter" response tactics and techniques as a member of a small team is required). This position is designed as Essential Personnel and may be subject to duty in preparion for, or in response to, a ste emergency or disaster declarion. This designion will not exceed 14 calendar days per year unless otherwise approved in advance by TAG.
