Job Description

The purpose of this position is to perform a full range of police officer and emergency response functions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs special investigations, interviews and interrogates suspects and witnesses, and investigates major violations and accidents. Enforces laws and ordinances by writing tickets, making arrests, serving subpoenas, and answering citizen complaints. Patrols assigned district, including streets, neighborhoods, and businesses and answers calls for service. Prepares reports, search warrants, documents and incident files. Performs field operations by conducting surveillance, organizing and directing officers and law enforcement agencies, and executing search and arrest warrants. Attends preliminary trial meetings and testifies in court if necessary. Perform supervisory duties in absence of Sergeant.

Performs other similar duties as required.

Knowledge:
North Carolina General Statutes Geography of the
City of Concord Firearms Computers Licensing and Certifications:
Valid North Carolina Driver's License Possession of or ability to obtain a North Carolina Intermediate Law Enforcement Certification within eighteen (18) months from date of hire. Failure to obtain within eighteen (18) months of hire may result in termination.

Heavy Work:
Exerting 50 - 100 pounds occasionally, 25 -50 pounds frequently, or from 10 up to 20 pounds constantly. Incumbents may be subjected to extreme temperature, wetness and/or humidity, respiratory hazards, noise and vibration, physical hazards. Positions assigned to
Criminal Investigations Division:

Medium Work:

Vice, Narcotics, Forensics or Property Control:
Positions in this class are subject to more frequent drug testing due to the sensitive nature of the assignment.
