Detective Your Career, Your Community We are seeking highly motivated applicants with a strong desire to enter the challenging field of law enforcement to fill a non-supervisory officer position in the Police Department. The Detective's main duties include but are not limited to investigating crimes that affect all segments of the community, working with the District Attorney's Office to prosecute criminals, conducting follow-up investigations, charging and arresting those responsible for committing criminal acts and preparing cases in order testify in judicial proceedings. Detectives must cooperate and coordinate efforts with other officers and employees of the department, particularly with respect to the prevention of crime; give efficient and prompt attention to the investigation of cases assigned and utilize and assist other law enforcement agencies in the clearance of crimes; and perform physical tasks associated with being a law enforcement officer, such as running and lifting to apprehend or control persons. Investigating and Processing crime scenes will be a primary role of this position. Minimum Requirements:

High School diploma or GED Must have 2 years as Law Enforcement Officer Adhere to an on-call rotation which requires to respond after hours when needed Must have a valid NC Driver's License and have no felony convictions BLET certification required (out of state certifications can transfer to NC) Cannot have been convicted of DUI, DWI, or certain misdemeanors within 5 years Applicants will be required to submit to the standard City and Police Department's hiring process to include the Criminal Investigation's Division selection procedure
