To be considered, you must submit an official City of Clinton employment application through our careers website: Apply through the City of Clinton Careers Page Position Overview Under limited supervision, the Police Officer responds to emergency and non-emergency calls for service while protecting lives, property, and the safety of the community.
Responsibilities include:
Conducting routine patrols and responding to calls for service Enforcing applicable federal, state, and local laws Responding to vehicle collisions and emergency situations Preparing accurate reports and maintaining case documentation Participating in required training Supporting community outreach and public-relations events Performing other related law-enforcement duties as assigned Minimum Requirements Applicants must: Be at least 21 years of age Possess a high school diploma or GED recognized by the South Carolina Department of Education or another state Possess and maintain a valid South Carolina driver's license and satisfactory driving record Be physically and psychologically capable of performing the essential duties of the position Remain calm and exercise sound judgment in stressful or emergency situations Possess strong oral and written communication skills Be able to understand and interpret technical and legal information Be capable of occasional strenuous physical activity City Benefits The City of Clinton offers: Weekly pay Take-home patrol vehicle, subject to departmental policy Employer-paid employee health, dental, and vision insurance Life insurance Paid time off Retirement plan Employee Assistance Program Complimentary employee membership to the YMCA The City of Clinton is an Equal Opportunity Employer and provides equal employment opportunities without regard to any status protected by applicable law.
