Responsibilities Conduct patrols of assigned areas to deter crime and respond swiftly to incidents. Investigate criminal activities by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and preparing detailed reports. Enforce laws related to traffic, public safety, immigration, animal control, and loss prevention. Provide first aid and CPR when necessary to assist injured individuals until medical personnel arrive. Manage conflict situations with professionalism, employing de-escalation techniques to resolve disputes peacefully. Handle animal-related incidents including animal care and animal handling when required. Write clear, accurate reports documenting investigations, arrests, and incidents for legal proceedings. Support community outreach efforts by engaging with residents and local organizations to promote safety awareness. Maintain proficiency in driving law enforcement vehicles safely under various conditions. Experience Proven experience in law enforcement or military service demonstrating leadership qualities. Knowledge of criminal investigation procedures and report writing standards. Skilled in surveillance techniques and conflict management strategies. Certification in first aid, CPR, and other emergency response protocols preferred. Familiarity with immigration law, animal handling, security protocols, and loss prevention practices is advantageous. Ability to operate law enforcement equipment such as CCTV systems and communication devices effectively. Strong physical fitness level capable of performing patrol duties that require standing or walking for extended periods. Tactical Operations:
Provide cover and protection for fellow officers during high-risk calls and assist in the tactical apprehension of dangerous suspects. Minimum and Additional Requirements High school diploma + 2 yrs work experience in law enforcement. Must have a Class 1 Law Enforcement Certification through SCCJA or be able to transfer a law enforcement certification from another state following
SLED/SCCJA
established guidelines within a 12-month period of employment. Must possess a valid driver's license Preferred Qualifications Maintain certification and carry a firearm and wear a body camera. First aid and CPR certification. Ability to patrol on foot for extended periods, climb stairs, move quickly as needed and ability to use force and physically restrain individuals, when necessary, in compliance with use of force policies. Knowledge of proper law enforcement behavior and role. Maintain proficiency with weapons, defensive tactics, and other modern law enforcement equipment and techniques. Knowledge of collection/ preservation of evidence, legal rights of suspects and law enforcement personnel, laws one is responsible for enforcing, and functions/ interrelationships of other law enforcement agencies. Skill in the operation of law enforcement vehicles, and communications equipment. Ability to correctly evaluate situations and make good decisions, deal with the public in a firm yet tactful manner, effectively interview witness and suspects, read, and comprehend written materials, and write clearly. Ability to effectively de-escalate confrontational situations. Conducts administrative or criminal investigations and keeps accurate and complete incident reports regarding such investigations. Ability to effectively, plan, organize, and review work activities. Ability to effectively supervise subordinates when applicable.
Pay:
$50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
