Smithville Police Department Officers will perform patrol, investigation, traffic regulation, crime prevention, and related enforcement activities. Knowledge of criminal, civil, juvenile and traffic laws and regulations; knowledge of City codes and ordinances; court systems and procedures; safety regulations applicable to motorized vehicles and equipment; and of radio communication; knowledge of routine vehicle and equipment maintenance. Skill and proficiency in the use of firearms, weapons, radio equipment, radar; skill in the use of a police vehicle in emergency and non-emergency situations. Must work shift work.

Qualifications:

Applicants must be at least 21 years of age (at time of employment), currently have a valid Texas Peace Officer License, and have a valid Texas Driver s License. Per TCOLE Administrative Rules, dishonorable discharge from the military is a disqualification. The Personal History Statement/application has a list of other disqualifiers.
