Position Overview We are seeking a seasoned Law & Motion Attorney to join our litigation team. The attorney will focus on drafting, filing, and arguing dispositive and procedural motions in civil litigation matters particularly personal injury cases while coordinating motion strategy with trial teams, managing motion calendars, and ensuring compliance with local rules and deadlines. This role combines strong legal research and writing with courtroom advocacy and case management to advance client interests and streamline pretrial litigation. Key Responsibilities Research and draft complex civil motions, briefs, and supporting legal memoranda Prepare and file pleadings, declarations, exhibits, and required court forms in accordance with local rules and e-filing procedures. Appear and argue motions and hearings in state and federal court; present oral advocacy and respond to bench questions effectively. Collaborate with trial attorneys and paralegals to develop motion strategy, identify evidentiary needs, and coordinate discovery to support motion practice. Manage motion calendar and critical deadlines, track statutory and court-imposed time limits, and maintain organized case files. Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and expert witnesses regarding motion status, scheduling, and strategy. Draft and review settlement-related pleadings and interlock motion strategy with overall case resolution goals. Supervise and mentor junior attorneys, associates, and paralegals on motion drafting, research techniques, and courtroom procedures. Monitor changes in procedural rules and relevant case law to ensure motion practice reflects current legal standards. Qualifications Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active bar membership in the hiring jurisdiction. 3+ years of civil litigation experience with demonstrated emphasis on law and motion practice; prior personal injury litigation experience strongly preferred. Proven track record of drafting persuasive motions, legal briefs, and effective oral argument in state and federal courts. Excellent legal research and writing skills; proficiency with Westlaw, LexisNexis, or similar research platforms. Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence rules, local court rules, and e-filing systems. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and handle a high-volume motion docket with accuracy. Superior communication and interpersonal skills for client interaction, negotiation, and teamwork. Experience supervising or mentoring junior legal staff is a plus. Willingness to travel to court appearances as required and maintain a valid drivers license.
