Job Description

Table Mountain Rancheria is seeking an in-house Associate Attorney, licensed to practice law in California, to expand and augment its legal department. Table Mountain Rancheria is located in Friant, CA about 20 minutes from Fresno and Clovis. This is a full-time position that offers an attractive benefits package including health, dental, vision, life insurance and AD&D, Flex plan and 401k Retirement plan with very competitive wages. Must have a valid California C Driver's License and pass an extensive background check. Job Summary This job is responsible for providing legal advice and recommendations to Table Mountain Rancheria's Tribal Government, the Tribe's governmental departments and the Tribe's commercial enterprises. This position works closely with and reports to the General Counsel on the various legal projects. The following is a list of essential duties and responsibilities for this position. It is not all-inclusive, other duties and responsibilities may be added and management may modify this job description when appropriate.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
Capable of providing legal advice and services in all areas of Federal Indian Law Preparing and submitting fee-to-trust applications on behalf of the Tribe Research and draft contracts and tribal ordinances Ability to dissect and interpret Constitutions, statutes, court decisions, regulations and ordinances of quasi-judicial bodies Interprets laws, rulings, and regulations relating to the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act Evaluate facts and legal data to determine advisability of defending or prosecuting lawsuits Acts as representative of the Tribal government in various legal transactions Drafts, reviews, and negotiates a wide array of contracts, including federal, gaming and non-gaming contracts Represents the Rancheria and its entities in litigation and other legal proceedings Advises the Tribal Council and the Casino Board concerning transactions of business involving internal affairs and corporate relations with the general public Provide limited service to tribal members Education/Experience Doctoral Degree (J.D.) and must be a member of the California Bar and licensed to practice law in the State of California unless otherwise waived by Tribal Council as based on determined experience and accomplishments. Five (5) years related experience and/or training as well as other relevant education or work experience At least three (3) years of experience working for a Tribal Government Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of corporate law practices Knowledge and experience in Gaming law, contracts and litigation Ability to interpret various complex documents Ability to analyze a situation and provide a solution Skilled in writing and providing detailed explanations to questions, concerns, policies, and contracts Skilled in project management Must have good written and verbal communication skills Other Requirements California Class C Driver's license Must have a clean driving record that is acceptable to Table Mountain Rancheria's insurer Must be able to maintain confidentiality of all work-related information, including documents and records Physical/Mental Conditions The physical demands listed are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will sit, stand, kneel, walk and stoop multiple times in a given day. They will work with computers, phones, copy and fax machines and other technology relative to the job. The position will be exposed to repetitive motion when using a keyboard, filing documents, and making copies. This individual may have to lift objects greater than ten pounds. Work Environment The employee will be exposed to inside climate conditions. The employee may be required to walk outside to another building and therefore could be exposed to rain, heat, and cold temperatures.
