The Firm represents private companies, public entities, and insurance carriers in a diverse range of civil matters, with a particular focus on transportation and commercial automobile claims, premises liability, construction defect, and product liability. HLG is an active trial firm, and our attorneys routinely take cases to trial. Associates are given meaningful opportunities to take depositions, argue motions, appear in court, work directly with experts, participate in mediations and arbitrations, prepare cases for trial, and gain hands-on trial experience. Our attorneys are encouraged to take ownership of their cases and develop the skills necessary to handle matters from initial assignment through verdict or resolution. We are looking for an attorney who wants to develop strong litigation and trial skills, assume meaningful responsibility, and grow with a firm that values strategic, practical, and results-oriented representation. Responsibilities Handle a diverse caseload involving bodily injury, property damage, and other civil litigation matters. Conduct legal research and analysis using Westlaw, Harvey, and other available resources. Draft motions, pleadings, discovery, and other case-related documents. Take and defend depositions, attend court hearings, and argue motions. Work with experts, including preparing experts for deposition and trial. Prepare clear and practical case evaluations, status reports, and recommendations for clients. Develop case strategy and identify the key liability and damages issues that will drive the case. Prepare cases for trial, including developing case themes, preparing witnesses, organizing exhibits, and assisting with all aspects of trial. Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations. Communicate directly with clients regarding case developments, strategy, exposure, and recommendations. Manage cases from initial assignment through settlement, trial, or other resolution. Requirements Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school; admission to the California state bar is required. Demonstrated ability in legal research using Westlaw. Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents. Experience in litigation, including trial preparation and court depositions preferred. Effective client communication skills with a focus on building trust and understanding client needs. Ability to manage multiple cases efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
